Increase asus rt-n16/rt-n66u wifi range! this was my biggest gripe with the router, so i had to do something about it. first off you should try and position the router in a central location, with all three antennas pointed straight up.. Barely get wifi signal only 35ft away with asus rt-n66u moved to new home a couple of weeks ago. was initially running a motorola wr850g and had weak signal in the bedrooms.. This is strange but the 5 ghz channel on my asus rt-n66u is weak when i am floor below from it is. where as the 2 ghz band is full signal across the house..
I would like to find a way to extend my router's wireless signal to that area. every room is wired with cat5e so my first choice would be get get some sort of device that can replicate my existing router's ssid, and plug into the ethernet network, and basically channel all wireless traffic in this area over cat5e to my asus router.. I believe there is an option to boost the signal strength using cfw, but not sure what it does as far as warranties are concerned i use an asus rt-n66u and i just leave the channel on auto.
